Quick Story:
On the way to the hospital with Joshua yesterday morning, he was so excited to meet Clark. I picked him up from our good friends where he spent the night. In the car, he kept asking about shooting baskets together and playing cars. We tried to explain again about him getting bigger. He asked for milk on the way, but when I offered to stop at home which was in route, he said he wanted to see Clark and Mom first. Once there, Joshua was initially quite nervous and uncomfortable with Lisa and baby Clark in the hospital. He was kind of scared, didn't want to hold Clark much, and actually asked to go home. We stayed for about 2 hours and he warmed a little but not much. You can see it in his face from some of the hospital photos.
Last night, we picked him up again from a different friend where he spent the afternoon and evening. This time with Lisa and Clark in the car. On the way home, out of the blue, Joshua said "I want to share a mema with baby Clark." "Which one?" I asked. "Truck mema." Lisa almost cried. Joshua has two favorite blankets, my bear one from Grandma Sheffield and his truck one from Mom. He is a sweet boy. Since being home, he is back to normal Joshua. He gave him a kiss before bed and could not wait to hold him this morning. He tells Clark about his cars and shows off how he shoots baskets. I am sure challenges will come but it has been fun to watch their relationship as brothers begin to blossom.
And interesting to see how it was the hospital that he really didn't like. I need to remember this more often in Peds.
